We arrive at the normal retail price by using the same age old standard piano industry formulas usedin books and Directories such as The Bluebook of Pianos, The Ancott Music Directory, The Piano Book and The Piano Times Newspaper. We add the normal markup to the wholesale price. Figures then equalaverage retail "tag" price or sale price formula most used by most U.S. music retailers for many years are shown in Blue . These are the prices offered to their best customers.None of our published price guides profess to provide anything more than a general reflection of marketplace conditions compiled just prior to publication. They are pricing methods used by many retail stores and special sales events at discount stores. These are not Manufacturers Suggested List Prices. In many cases they are considerably lower than so called Manufacturer's Suggested List Prices. These are current retail prices on October 19, 2009.
Retail pricing is the responsibility of the dealer. No two dealers are alike, and no two markets are alike and many starting retail prices are set by individual dealers. Naturally, suggested retail and actual selling price will vary slightly depending on location and circumstance.
